Portal Page?

I don't know if this forum is portal friendly, but if it is, you guys should make one. Post team news or blog entries on the front page.

Being a fellow blogger myself, I think it's a BRILLIANT idea!

I actually made a personal forum-turned-blog (via portal) that can be seen here.


PS: I also started posting my Wild highlight clips from former seasons on there. Hmm, maybe I should post them here to. For those of you that didn't hear, I'm no longer recording new Wild clips. Its very time consuming and being a full time college student with a part-time job, I don't like to spend my spare time cropping videos.

I did hear that you weren't doing them anymore. Shame really. I checked out your site and am already downloading your clips as we speak! Any chance at you getting 08-09 video uploaded any time soon?

Sidenote: What do you use to record all of your Wild video? I'm interested in doing the same...

Yeah, I just haven't gotten around to it. It won't take long so I'll have it up within a couple of days. Then I also have some pre-game videos that were posted on Wild.com from the 2005-06 season. (I used to have 2006-07 season clips, but my computer died and all of it).

Sidenote: I used to use a hardware-program called WinTV. I actually don't really understand how to set it up, so I won't be much help there. A good friend of mine, who is a computer wizz set it up for me. It was giving me some audio-input problems on my computer, so I removed it (that, plus I just don't have the time to record games anymore).

after doing some digging, it looks like it is possible to install a portal page. however, my computer here at work is acting up, so it will be something i will try and tackle over the weekend.

ok, a portal is up and running! I need to acclimate myself on how it all works, but i will get some better widgets and stuff on there. Exciting to see. The portal link has been added to the link bar up top.

yeah it is pretty sweet. the wild jersey one will have scores updated once the season rolls around. I will also try and get one for all NHL scores too

now, what do you guys wanna do with blogs and stuff?

You know how the portal displays the latest topics as announcements? It only shows the opening post of each thread, then all replies show up as "Comments: #".

I was thinking, you could use that to post Wild announcements and/or use that to post blog entries. The announcement setup is synchronized to whichever subforum you choose. You could make a "News" subforum where only the moderators can start new topics (but members can reply to topics) and synchronize that to your portal announcements.

hmmmmm, i see, i see. i can toy around with that.

I have however consumed a few of your most unfavorite beverages, so doing that right now would not be wise.

dear sir,

you have an rss feed widget on the front page. I intend on just leaving it as your blog up there for now. If we all of a sudden blow up with bloggers (hockey related of course) I will either do a monthly rotating blog, or I know there is a widget for doing 3 RSS feeds at once and can do it that way too.

also, got an RSS feed up for Wild.com

Weird, now I have a scroll bar to scroll left and right to see the whole portal page...

hmmmmmm, when i am back on the desktop (the lady is using it right now) I will try shrinking up some of the dimensions. I know on different screens it looks different. like on the laptop the middle column is shrunk up a bit.
