I guess that's my whole point though. It doesn't have to be "retired"...players can still wear it. I wasn't even thinking about Havlat (and who does? LOL)

Put a special logo/number much like OTH has there in the sig. Put it in the rafters, a display case in the Xcel...whatever.

Or not. It's all good.

The precedent has already been set when Zholtok passed IMO.

A mix of alcohol and oxycodone. Sigh. Accidental overdose.

They said specifically it wasn't accidental "overdose", as he didn't take too much of anything, he just had what they called an "accidental death" due to alcohol and oxycodone toxicity.

Guess that's why the warnings about drinking alcohol when taking pain killers.

Some of the stories made it sound like he had an issue with the painkillers which I was not aware of. Not sure if others knew about that.

Damn shame.

Sounds like he was in and out of rehab for some kind of addiction since '09... kind funny that that's the year he missed a ton of time due to back pain. Maybe he had been on the pain killers since the back issue flared up.

^^that would be my hunch.

regardless of being an athlete or not, as soon as a doctor hears the word "pain" come out of your mouth, boom, painkiller perscription.

I know you asked on the first page but I was asking Russo via twitter if Boogaard Wild jerseys were still able to be made or purchased and he messaged me the following:

"I'd call the Hockey Lodge at the arena and ask for Rae Lynn. I'm sure she can help you or give you an idea of how to get one"

hope this helps, if you are still looking for a jersey. I didn't have the money for one yet so I haven't got a chance to call and ask.

I actually got a different answer from the guys at the Lodge in Burnsville when I was down that way a few days ago. They said they can get it done no problem and I might be able to shave a bit off the price if I was able to go pick it up from Heritage instead of it being couriered back to them in Burnsville.

I guess for like a week and a half they shut down lettering of them out of respect for the family. They also told me all of their retail supply of Boogaard jerseys, shirts, etc were boxed up and shipped back to the family, so my hunch is they are either in Len's garage right now, or some boxes are sitting in a warehouse.
